China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland Ambassador Jia Guide Meets with Marilyne Andersen, Director General of the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator

On September 3, 2026, Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, met with Professor Marilyne Andersen, Director General of the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA). The two sides exchanged views on global governance of science and technology, among other issues.

Ambassador Jia noted that a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is gaining momentum, with rapid breakthroughs in frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and brain-computer interfaces. These advances are injecting new impetus into economic and social development while also raising new issues for global governance. He commended GESDA for its active efforts to promote dialogue and cooperation between the scientific and diplomatic communities on frontier science and technology. He expressed China’s readiness to work with GESDA to help ensure that advances in science and technology better benefit people of all countries.

Professor Andersen spoke highly of China’s achievements in scientific and technological innovation and its active participation in global science and technology governance. She briefed Ambassador Jia on GESDA’s work in anticipating trends in frontier science and technology, and expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation with China and jointly contribute to a more open and inclusive international governance framework for science and technology.
